Bits & bytes for March 2025
It's certainly been a long time since I've written here. But I feel somewhat compelled. Partially because I've been drinking a coffee while reading the latest issue of Edge Magazine (the only subscription to a print media offering I've ever had for any significant amount of time). And because over January, I spent a significant amount of time on airplanes. Trapped for an inhumane number of hours traversing the crossing between Ireland and both US coasts at different points. Hours of either movies, a bit of work or one of my various handhelds.
My handhelds are limited to 3, but the possibilities on them are limitless. Playdate, which doesn't travel well on a redeye given the technology doesn't have a backlight and even in dim light, it can be tough to see for my 40 year old eyeballs. Analogue Pocket, which is magically capable with old game consoles that bring me right back to my pre-teens. And then the Steam Deck, which is by far my most used game device over the past few years. Limited only by the power of the games consuming so much of the battery life.
What's funny, and perhaps stupid too, is that the game I played the most was probably Balatro. Something clicked with it while I was trapped in a window seat going all the way to San Fran. The game coming in second place is Automobilista 2. Which in effect scratches my Gran Turismo-shaped itch while abroad.
In a very separate note, I'll be doing more to robustly update this little site through the year. I've not lost any inspiration -- made sure to renew the domain, etc. The last few months have just been hectic!
What I've been playing this month:
- Assetto Corsa EVO
- Automobilista 2
- Balatro
